FRIDAY - Hebrews 6:13-20

Typically speaking, hope is not a word that comes to mind when we think of attributes to think about in Lent. There is hope in advent, and waiting on Christ’s coming, but not as much in the season of Lent. But as those who live in the future, we have the ability to know what Lent is building towards. What Lent points to. Good Friday. It is one Good Friday, on the cross of Christ that our debt finally finds its payment, that our wrongs are wiped clean, and our sin is dealt with in finality. This is the truth that can offer us hope. That while we were yet sinners, Christ died on a cross for us. He paid our debts, though they were many. He bore our shame, though it was great. All for us to be made right with God. This is our only hope for salvation: the cross of Christ.

So let us have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. It anchors our souls to the truth of God’s love and Christ’s work. This hope leads through life’s toughest moments and greatest wrestlings. It is this hope that we have that offers us joy in troubled times and it is this hope that we must tell others about. For they too can experience the grace of God that offers us hope.
