Community Groups: Summer Seating ’17
As we announced on Sunday, we are going to try something new this summer: having Community Groups sit in the same section together on Sunday mornings. It’s just a simple tweak, but we’re trying it out for a few reasons:
- It’s a chance for your community group to still see each other during the summer. I’m going to miss the connectedness of a weekly meeting for my group and I imagine that you will too. By sitting together, your group members will easily know where to find each other on Sundays and can stay in touch.
- It’s a chance for our Groups to connect with unconnected people in our church. By asking our community groups to sit in the same sections, we’ll know that if someone isn’t in a group but sitting in that section, then they probably aren’t connected at all. This will create a great opportunity for you to say hello to them, introduce them to other people in your CG, look for them throughout the summer, and maybe even invite them to join your group or to go out to lunch after the service.
- It’s a chance for you to connect with other connected people at The Orchard. We often hear that people at our church desire to get to know other people who call it home. Because our sections are so large, we’ll be putting 3 CGs in each section. Over the summer, your group members will be able to see the same people and connect with them. We’ll shuffle the seating arrangement around every few months to liven up this connection.
Here’s a seating chart to bring a little organization to the process. You can locate your Group’s section by your leaders’ last name.
A few questions you might have:
Are we changing up our service structure? Will we be having discussion questions, etc.? No. We are simply implementing one small tweak and trying to add a little community and connection to Sunday mornings. And, yes, we will still be sitting in rows.
When does this start?
This Sunday, May 21st
