Kick off the new year: WITH

We spent a lot of time during Advent talking about Immanuel, the name that the angel gave for Jesus.  It means ‘God with us’.  That name highlighted an action that changed everything about our world.  It is the real meaning of Christmas but it is also meant to give meaning to every moment of our lives.

The problem is that very few of us know how to be with God.  We know how to do things for Him, ask for things from Him and learn things about Him.  But living a life with Him is a mystery, even to those of us who have considered ourselves Christians for a long time.

If you are looking to make some changes in 2017, the best place to start is to look for changes that need to be made in the way that you relate to your Savior.  That’s why we are spending the next few weeks on a sermon series called with to help us kick off the new year with a new perspective.  It all starts on New Years Day at 10AM and we hope you’ll join us.

Note: the core concepts for the series come from the book With by Skye Jethani.  You don’t have to get the book but it is fantastic and would add to your exploration of these ideas in the new year.  You can get it from Amazon or order it through Square Books if you want to shop local.
