A few ideas for #GivingTuesday

If you’ve been on social media at all today, you know that #GivingTuesday is a day to celebrate kindness and show generosity.  A generous heart is a gift from God and it’s also a gift of God to our world in need.

If you are caught up in the joy of #GivingTuesday but aren’t sure where you can make your giving count most on this day, here are a few of our suggestions:

Our international partners

410 Bridge

Our mission partner on the ground in Haiti is doing amazing, sustainable work in that country. They are using #GivingTuesday as a way to impact those affected by the recent hurricane in Haiti.  Also: Chickens!

Each year, we take up a special Christmas Eve offering to support the great work at this special place.  The Rafiki Village in Ghana is home to some precious children and some future leaders of that community.

Learn more about the joy of Rafiki through this video and give through this link.

Some local mission partners

Holding Hands Resale Shop

Holding Hands is (Orchard member) Donna Howard’s resale shop that not only provides affordable household items but also jobs for some of our neighbors with special needs.  Learn more about Holding Hands and donate here.

Operation Life Vision

OLV is a mentoring ministry to the underserved kids and teenagers in our community.  Listen to the director Alex Coleman tell his story and share about the need in our community at The Orchard here.

Currently, the easiest way to give to OLV is to make a check out to ‘Operation Life Vision’ and send it to the church (295 HWY 7 North, Oxford).  We will get it where it needs to go.  All gifts are tax deductible.

Local ministry

Camp Lake Stephens

CLS has been a place of joy, growth and spiritual development for over 60 years in our area.  Most people know it as a summer camp but it actually serves people of all ages all throughout the year.  Learn more about Lake Stephens and give here.

(Note: you would have a different pastor and probably be going to a different church if it weren’t for the ministry of CLS)

Home Sweet Home

The Orchard

God has used what we’ve given together to do amazing things over the years.  We are in a season of dreaming here at the church and we can’t wait to see what God has in store for us and for our city.  If you would like to make a special gift to the church on #GivingTuesday, you can do so through our app, by giving online, or by mail (295 HWY 7 North, Oxford).

It’s not an exhaustive list, but it’s a good start.  Happy Giving, everyone!
